Patience Jonathan's Aircraft develops fault in Sokoto

THERE was a drama in Sokoto, on Wednesday, when a presidential jet, with number N5-FGU, which conveyed the First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan, to Sokoto failed to start for more than two hours while on her way back to Abuja.

The First Lady, who was in Sokoto on a visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, arrived at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, at around 11.30 a.m.
Upon her arrival, she was received by Governor Aliyu Wamakko, while her convoy drove to the Sokoto Government Lodge before she proceeded to the Sultan palace at Kanwuri area of the Sokoto metropolis, where she held a meeting with the Sultan behind closed doors.
Mrs Jonathan, who returned to the Sokoto airport at 2.00 p.m, was, again, received by Governor Wama-kko in company with some top state government functionaries at the airport.
However, efforts by the pilot of the presidential jet she boarded to start the engine of the aircraft failed, leading to a delay of over two hours.
The president’s wife, accompanied by the wife of the vice-president, Hajia Amina Sambo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national women’s leader, Hajia Maryam Ciroma, were stranded on the plane which failed to take off for over two hours.
The technical crew members on the plane tried to fix the problem, but failed, while another presidential airplane was flown to Sokoto to take the First Lady and members of her entourage back to Abuja.
Another airplane, with the number N5-FG, landed at the Sokoto airport by 4.23 p.m and took off with the First Lady and her entourage by 4.25 p.m.

P.S. Thank God the fualt develop on ground and not mid-air where there would be no option than to crash land. But this is waste of govt. money. Why on earth would a president's wife use presidential jet funded by the govt. for campaign while her husband is also using another presidential jet for another campaign.
