Damilola Taylor's dad calls for sacking of judge handling son’s case

Father of Damilola Taylor, a schoolboy murdered by a notorious student gang in Peckham, London, has called for the sacking of the judge handling his son’s case.
The 10-year-old boy bled to death after he was jabbed in the thigh with a broken beer bottle by a gang of youths in Peckham, south London
Richard Taylor said the Justice Secretary, Kenneth Clarke in charge of his son’s case should be sacked over his plans to halve jail terms for offenders who had earlier pleaded guilty.
Consequently, the British Prime Minister, David Cameron on Tuesday, at Downing Street, announced government’s to stop the judge’s plans.

Cameron performed what was described as “a prison sentencing U-turn” on the celebrated murder case.
The Prime Minister defending his action said the jugde was allowed to go ahead with his plans, the sentences would have been too lenient and criminals would have been sent the “wrong message” to the accused and the public.
He said “Britain is facing a failing prison system which needs to be reformed so families could feel safe in their homes.”
With the government decision to halt the sentencing plans, an alternative ways of making the £100 million savings that would have been made through the plans would now be sought through what the government called “efficiencies” elsewhere in Clarke's department.
The Prime Minister, however denied that the govrnment’s “u-turn” was a sign of weak government.
Applauding the government’s intervention, Damilola's father Richard Taylor said the Prime Minister was right to force Clarke to back down.
But while the Justice Secretary demanded for the Prime Minister’s sack over his action, Damilola’s father said: “Ken Clarke is not doing the right thing, his advisers are not giving him the right advice on the issue.
“Ken Clarke does not know what is going on in the streets, he does not know what criminality is about. He is taking decisions about what he does not know about.
He said Cameron's decision to abandon the Ken Clarke statement was right.
