Blood Flows As Okada Groups Clash In Agbado

recently when officials of Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria, ACCOMORAN, brutalised members of Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria, ANACOWA, under Accredited Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria, AMORAN, over hike in price of tickets in Agbado park.
According to the state treasurer, Comrade Salaudeen Amoo, trouble started when tickets that were issued to ANACOWA members by executives of Accomoran which was N230 per leaflet suddenly without notice increased to N260 on the order of their state chairman, Samson Apelogun a.k.a All rounder.
“This development, our members viewed as outrageous, more so, we were not officially informed,” he said.
Amoo further said there was a hot argument with the riders who insisted that they should revert to the old price of N230.
The duo of Kola and Bondis, according to Amoran state treasurer, branch chairmen of branches 2 and 4 of Agbado parks of Accomoran, became infuriated by the effrontery of their members to flout the state chairman’s directives and went to report to their boss. “The chairman instantly mobilised hoodlums to unleash mayhem on our members,” he said.

In the ensuing fracas, three persons, Messrs Ogundare Jide, Wale Adetosoye and Afisu, all member of Anacowa under Amoran were battered with clubs and machetes.
“We reported the matter at Agbado Police Station where the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr. Abayomi, gave us a written note to take the injured members to hospital for treatment and ordered his men to arrest the suspects.
“However, to our surprise, the two arrested suspects, Kola and Bondu, were released on bail and are now roaming the park freely. We feel that the DPO has been compromised by the state chairman of Accomoran to release his boys,” he said,
Efforts by P.M.NEWS to speak with the IPO, Corporal Olatunde, proved abortive.
The DPO, in his response, said investigation is still on to ascertain what was the actual cause of the crisis and probably re-arrest the said suspects.
However, Comrade Ade Ikuesan, the National chairman of ANACOWA, whose three members were wounded said that one of the injured victims has been confirmed blind by doctors. This, he said, was as a result of the dip cut on his neck which has affected the inner vein.
He, therefore, appealed to Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, to quickly intervene in the matter so as to avert further bloodshed, adding; “We want justice to be done on this matter as we are ready to resist any attempt by whosoever wants to sweep the matter under the carpet, We want the matter to be charged to court.”
The chairman of Amoran Ogun State, Alhaji Nurudeen Shogeyinbo, also wants the Ogun State government and its officials in charge of revenue collection to investigate the amount which, he claimed, they paid to the office of the director of parks and garages to provide tickets for ANACOWA members which was never done.
