Your royal-wedding invite was mysteriously lost in the mail? Fret not. The next best thing to watching the royal couple exchange vows at Westminster Abbey on April 29 is visiting the spots that were key to their courtship. Unlike royals who appear uncomfortable outside a hunting lodge and a tartan kilt, the young couple takes a refreshingly high/low approach to R&R. When it comes to downtime, Will and Kate are equally at home rhino spotting at the Kenyan wildlife conservancy where Will spent his gap year, or luxuriating on Mustique, a favorite private-island getaway for rock royalty as well as Will’s relatives.
Lewa, Kenya
William pulled his mother Diana’s diamond and sapphire ring from his pack and proposed by hurricane lamplight at this lodge below Mount Kenya. The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is home to 12 percent of Kenya’s black-rhino population, as well as Grevy’s zebras.

Mustique, Grenadines
Princess Margaret lived here for many years, and Mick Jagger has a house on the island, but Will and Kate stay with John and Belle Robinson, who own the Jigsaw line of clothing boutiques Kate once worked for. Wednesday nights find the couple karaoking Elvis tunes at Basil’s Beach Bar and Restaurant.
