A barren housewife, Mrs. Patience Onuh, has been charged to Apapa Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria for allegedly attempting to kill her neighbour’s 5-year son.
The 28-year-old woman was alleged to have used a sharp razor blade to slash the victim (name withheld) several times and he sustained serious injuries.
Patience reportedly claimed that the boy’s mother has been boasting with the boy to spite her whenever they had quarrel.
The mother of the victim, Bridget, claimed that Patience wanted to kill the boy because she has no child.
Patience is now facing a charge of threatening and attempting to kill the little boy.
The incident happened at Snake Island Barracks, Igbologun, Lagos, where both neighbours reside.
P.M.NEWS gathered that Patience had a quarrel with Bridget, mother of the victim, and she allegedly vent her anger on the boy.
She reportedly used a new blade and started slashing the little boy all over his body.
The boy started bleeding profusely before he was rescued by their neighbours who rushed him to a hospital where he is now receiving treatment.
She pleaded not guilty after she was arrested and arraigned.
The presiding magistrate, Mr. E.O. Ogundare granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 21 October 2011.
Patience was remanded in Kirikiri Prison Apapa, Lagos pending when she will fulfil her bail conditions.
