Over the past few years, increasing amount of celebrities have been turning to Twitter to give themselves a voice and self-publicise.

So when it came to Halloween, what better way for the stars to show off their creativity than to upload their costumes on the micro-blogging site.

Celebrities from the A-list to the Z-list couldn't wait to show off their handiwork as they prepared to celebrate the spooky holiday.

While British celebrities were more traditional when it came to costumes and stuck to the horror theme, Americans dressed in a wide variety of ensembles.

In Hollywood, it was reunion for former Disney stars as Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus attended sisters Amanda and Alyson Michalka' Halloween party.

High School Musical heart-throb Efron wore a very tight pair of shorts as he dressed as a Reno 911 police officer.

Although it wasn't clear exactly what Cyrus had dressed as, she certainly made an impression with her make-up and low-cut top.
Country singer LeAnn Rimes dressed as a 'trailer trash' chain-smoking pregnant bride, while Glee star Lea Michele certainly went to a lot of effort as the Swan Queen from Swan Lake.
The actress looked straight out of the National Ballet in her tutu, tights and feathered headdress.

Hopefully Jennifer Lopez was flattered when reality star-turned-fashion designer Nicole Richie dressed as the multi-hyphenate Latina star.

The mother-of-two looked a dead-ringer for J.Lo in a pink velour tracksuit, aviator shades, big hoop earrings and a 'Croydon facelift' ponytail as she attended Kate Hudson's Halloween party in Los Angeles.

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara showed her fun side and steered away from a sexy ensemble in favour of an Angry Birds costume.

Newly-single Kim Kardashian and dancer/actress Julianne Hough both dressed as Batman comics villain Poison Ivy.
Partying just 24 hours before she filed for divorce from husband Kris Humphries, the socialite attended a party at the Lavo nightclub in New York with publicist friend Jonathan Cheban.

She's a professional dancer with a figure which leaves most women green with envy.

So Julianne Hough could be forgiven for choosing outfits which show off her toned physique at every opportunity.

Last night, the Footloose actress became the latest celebrity to explore the 'extreme cleavage' trend in a daring, plunging gold dress as she posed on the red carpet at the Yahoo Hollywood Movie Awards.

Tanned and toned: Julianne could be forgiven for choosing to show off her figure in the gold outfit

The 23-year-old star looked stunning in the glittering gold dress, teaming it with minimal jewellery and leaving her blonde hair in soft waves to leave the focus on her eye-catching outfit.

 

Julianne also wore a pair of leg-lengthening, nude, peep-toe heels for the occasion.

Tweeting from the event, Julianne tweeted: 'Just left the Yahoo Hollywood Movie Awards where I presented an award to @TomFelton for Harry Potter! Wow what a nice guy! :)'

Julianne, who is dating American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, spoke recently about how her sense of style has evolved since she was younger.

She explained in Cosmopolitan magazine: 'All the style advice I got when I was younger was terrible. It was always, "Don’t ever put prints with something striped" or "Don’t wear socks with sandals."

'So now I’ve completely reversed all that advice, and I do what’s in style now, which is mixing patterns and wearing socks with sandals!'

Julianne also spoke about how she maintains her enviable figure, crediting her body to enjoying lots of outdoor activities.

She told Self magazine: 'I grew up mountain biking in Utah, and I’ve been doing it more recently since working in Miami.

'I crave danger. I find going fast exhilarating! I adore snowboarding, skiing, and skydiving.'

Julianne is currently appearing in Footloose, alongside Kenny Wormald, a remake of the 1984 classic movie which starred Kevin Bacon.

And despite first making a name for herself on Dancing With The Stars, Julianne is hoping she will soon be taken seriously as an actress after Footloose and the upcoming Rock Of Ages.

She told Collider.com: 'Challenging myself is my favorite thing to do in the world. Starting from scratch somewhere is always a little nerve-wracking, but I feel like when it’s scary, I should probably do it. A lot of people don’t know that when I first moved out to L.A., it was to act, and Dancing with the Stars fell into place.

'I know everybody has discovered me as a dancer, but hopefully this will be the chance that I’ve been looking for, for people to see me as an actress.'
