Why I cancelled Ikechukwu, Duncan Mighty deal – Don Jazzy

There may not be much argument from music buffs if Michael Collins Ajereh a.k.a Don Jazzy is named the most popular Nigerian music producer. It is a title many will agree he’s earned through hard work and sheer determination.Following the music careers of Mo’ hit crew, you’ll agree that we are talking about a beats master with unimaginable capabilities at music synergy and finishing, perhaps a demi- god who could literally transform anyone’s career from dust to stardom.
However, this very impressive résumé, sometimes comes under scrutiny time and again especially when he’s makes very tough decisions.

In November 2010, when it was officially made public that Mo’hit’s record and rap artist Ikechukwu Onunaku were parting ways, it hit the entertainment industry like a bomb.

Koko master
The news came on the heel of an alleged affray between Ikechukwu and D’Banj and the rumour that Ikechukwu had allegedly beaten up the Koko master.
It was a rumour that both sides denied but which many insisted cost Ikechukwu his career as a Mo’hit artist.
After a long spell of a pursuit, we finally got the Mo’hit record boss talking.  However, Showtime can authoritatively confirm to you that a misunderstanding had really taken place somewhere in the midst of things but it wasn’t between Ikechukwu and Dbanj, No. Rather it had been Ikechukwu against the Mo’Hits boss himself, Don Jazzi.
Dbanj
But then, we had a few misunderstanding along the line and called off the album deal”.But most of that now is in the past as Showtime can authoritatively confirm to you that these two are very good friends again. But then, either this secret ‘misunderstanding’ or Don Jazzy’s ‘age calculation’ on Ikechukwu has left a music deal out of the picture… at least for now.
Duncan Mighty’s case had been one of an enthusiastic athlete who jumped the gun once and was never forgiven. Don Jazzy said “Anytime my boys go to perform in Port-Harcourt, they always tell me that those guys there love Duncan Mighty. So I invited him to Lagos and he came to the house.
I told the boys that I’d like to work with him. We had a meeting and I wanted to sign him or do a promotion deal with him. And since he’s also a producer, maybe he’ll be as a sort of co-producer for my label to help reduce some work load. But now, the same thing that happened with Terry G at some point happened.
Because if it’s Mo’hits Records, everybody gets excited. We haven’t signed any deal and he went ahead to tell people that he’s been signed to Mo’Hits. I was in America when I read on the internet that Duncan Mighty has been signed to Mo’Hits Records.
And I hadn’t made up my mind yet about him. When I read it, I had to deny on the internet. I was hoping that after I’ve signed him, then I could tell everyone about it, but he took shine away from me. I called Bankuli and asked how the gist came about. I was told he’d already granted interviews saying he’s been signed on by Mo’hits to work as a producer and vocal coach. I ended the deal.”
