Sir Jimmy Savile dies aged 84

Sir Jimmy Savile OBE has died, according to Sky News. He was 84.

Savile presented the BBC's first edition of Top Of The Pops on New Year's Day, 1964, from a television studio in Dickenson Road Rusholme, Manchester.
He went on to be a regular host of the seminal programme over the next two decades, and co-fronted the final episode in 1996. He ended that show with the words, "It's number one, it's still Top of the Pops".

In music TV, Savile also hosted BBC/ZDF's Pop Goes The Sixties, but it was his work on Jim'll Fix It (1975 - 1994) that made him a household name with a new generation.
He was also a prominent name in radio, joining BBC Radio 1 in 1968, where he presented classic programme Jimmy Savile's Old Record Club on Sunday lunchtimes. He left the station in 1987, but continued to present for other popular radio outlets.
