She plays troubled 17-year-old Sophie Webster on the Cobbles soap and it seems that Brooke Vincent style has been influenced by her character.

The actress,19, donned a pair of bright knee-high socks which she teamed with a short navy dress for a look that shouted naughty schoolgirl with a twist as she attended the opening of a salon in Birmingham yesterday.

As well as a thick brown waistbelt, Brooke covered up with a black leather jacket for the Adee Phelan Salon launch party in Birmingham.

Brooke was joined by a whole host of Coronation co-stars including Michelle Keegan, who won Sexiest Female Soap Star at Monday night's Inside Soap Awards.

Michelle, who has won the award three times, looked stunning in a pair of black skinny jeans and a copper coloured top which she teamed with a statement silver necklace.

Both Brooke and Michelle were seen indulging in a sweet treat and were seen sucking on lolipops at the salon launch.

Brooke and Michelle were not the only Coronation Street stunners at the bash and the pair were joined by Sacha Parkinson and Catherine Tyldesley.

Sacha was dressed in a rust-coloured blazer a see-through black top and a pair of light skinny jeans, while Catherine opted for a black shift dress for a sophisticated look.

There was a large Coronation Street contingent from the males stars of the show including Jack P Shepherd, Ben Price, Ryan Thomas and Keith Duffy as well as Anthony Cotton, Andrew Lancel, Graeme Hawley and Ian Puleston-Davies.

It wasn't just soap stars who attended the bash with Imogen Thomas also in attendance showing off her curves in a bright scarlet bandage dress by Celeb Boutique.

And the eclectic mix of guests included former Corrie star Nikki Sanderson, Blue's Simon Webbe and Peter Stringfellow were also at the bash.

With a lot of young talent in both soaps it's always going to be a glamour battle between the lasses of Coronation Street and the EastEnders girls when a red carpet beckons.

But last night, as their soap scooped five awards, it was the Londoners that caused the flashbulb frenzy as the Square's young actresses arrived for this year's Inside Soap Awards in London.

Heading the Walford gang were actresses Jacqueline Jossa, Shona McGarty and Danielle Harold looked every inch the TV starlets as they posed on the red carpet at Gilgamesh in Camden.

Jacqueline, 18, who plays Lauren Branning, looked stunning in a short black dress and towering red heels while Danielle, also 18, who plays tearaway Lola Pearce, ditched her tracksuit for a very sexy black asymmetrical cutaway dress and Mary Jane style heels.

But it was Shona, 19, who looked the most transformed from her character, troubled Whitney Dean and looked very pretty in a chiffon cream dress and cream and yellow heels, her long black hair tumbling around her shoulders in loose waves.

They posed separately but came together to have a picture taken with one of the soap's five awards that it scooped on the night.

Battling them for the flashbulbs were the girls from their soap rival Coronation Street with Brooke Vincent and Sacha Parkinson leading the cuties from the cobbles.

Brooke, 19, who plays Sophie Webster, looked vampy little black dress that showed off her curves.

She looked a far cry from the troubled teen she plays on the soap with her big hair and sexy make-up, while Sacha, also 19, and who plays her on-screen lesbian lover Sian Powers, decided against a dress and instead wore a striking red halterneck jumpsuit which made her look very grown-up.

But it was Michelle Keegan who stole the show in more ways than one, her outfit proving why she was crowed Sexiest Female for the third year running.

The actress, 24, who is engaged to the Wanted's Max George, looking stunning in her black ruched dress as she posed with her award.

Cheshire's finest: Former Hollyoaks actress Carley Stenson, who is currently starring as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde: The Musical, looked gorgeous in a purple lace dress while former co-star Bronagh Waugh kept it simple in black

And she told BANG Showbiz: 'I genuinely didn't think I would win again. I think the people who vote clearly don't see me in my slobs on a daily basis. I think it's Tina they like anyway, not me. Max better have voted for me otherwise I'll kill him!'

Corrie also landed two other awards, one for Bill Tarmey’s emotional farewell from the soap after 30 years playing Jack Duckworth.

That was named Best Exit while Corrie also won the Outstanding Achievement Award for the dramatic tram crash and live episode for the show's 50th anniversary week.

Chris Fountain, who joined the soap in March as Tommy Duckworth, said it was a worthy award for the soap, and added: 'I think it's about time to be honest. That storyline was phenomenal and it hasn't been recognised at any other awards ceremonies. I'm just proud to be part of it.'

But the night went to their London rivals EastEnders, who reigned supreme with their five gongs, including the coveted Best Soap.

It was a good night for Jessie Wallace, whose off-screen troubles seemed even further away for the actress.

Jessie, who this weekend celebrated her 40th birthday with a very jolly and fun day out on the river, was crowned Best Actress for her portrayal of pub landlady Kat Moon.

Other EastEnders winners included young Maisie Smith who plays the funny and cute Tiffany Butcher, Tameka Empson won Funniest Performance for her hilarious portrayal of Kim Fox while the Masood and Khan nuptials were declared the Best Wedding.

Other winners included Hollyoaks star Danny Mac, who won Sexiest Male for his role as Dodger Savage, and Emmerdale’s Danny Miller, who landed two awards for the second year running.

He scooped Best Actor for his role as Aaron Livesy and Best Dramatic Performance for the assisted suicide scenes involving Aaron’s boyfriend, Jackson Walsh, while the Best Newcomer Award this year was given to Hollyoaks’ Emmett J Scanlan for his role as Brendan Brady.

Home and Away was named Best Daytime Soap and Neighbours star Ryan Moloney (Toadie Rebecchi) was awarded Best Daytime Star for the second year running.

Best Drama went to Waterloo Road, also for the second year in succession.

It's the online craze that's taken the world by storm - and even the fictional streets of Weatherfield appear impervious to the daft charms of planking.

This week, a clutch of Coronation Street's youngest stars got in on the act and Sacha Parkinson, 19, was there to preserve their planking for posterity and share it on her Twitter for all the world to see.

Sacha, who plays Sian Powers on the soap, appeared to start the trend amongst the cast when she posted a picture of herself away from work, getting her highlights done at a hairdressers in Manchester.

However, co-star Simon Gregson, 36, made his move on the set of the soap and Sacha was there with her camera.

He could probably get away with planking on the bar of the Rover's Return however seeing as his character Steve McDonald does own the pub after all.

However, what Stella Price would have to say about him getting down amongst the beer towels is another matter...

Sacha then took up the baton again, and planked on top of a postbox outside the Corner Shop.

Brooke Vincent, 19, who plays Sacha's onscreen partner Sophie Webster and is her real life best friend, then took matters one stage further, and planked on the counter of the Kabin

Previous silly plankers have included Gordon Ramsey, Chris Brown, Phillip Schofield, Hugh Hefner and Jenni Falconer, who did the controversial reverse plank due to being pregnant.

For the uninitiated, planking sees people lying stretched out flat and face down in the most unlikely of public places, then sharing their poses on social media sites like Twitter, Flickr and Facebook.

Aficionados are required to lie expressionless with a straight body, hands by their sides with toes pointing into the ground.

According to the BBC, two groups claim to have invented the prank, either in Somerset in 2000 as the 'lying down game' which went online in 2007, or in South Australia the year after where it became known as planking.

Both groups have rival Facebook sites boasting more than 100,000 fans.

The phenomenon caused alarm in May when an Australian practitioner was killed trying it on a balcony in Brisbane, but falling to his death instead.

The victim, a man in his 20s, fell while a friend photographed him, according to police.

However, the only danger that the Corrie crew were likely to find themselve in was what Norris Cole would have done to Brooke if he'd caught her...

She can usually be found wearing jeans and jumpers as Sian Powers in Coronation Street.

So it must come as a welcome break for Sacha Parkinson to be able to strip down to a bikini while on holiday.

The 19-year-old actress was seen soaking up the sun with a group of friends while on holiday in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, earlier this week.

Going for a colour co-ordinated look, Sacha teamed her red and white nautical bikini bottoms with a white triangle bikini top.
She also teamed her outfit with a New York Yankees red and white baseball cap to set her beachside style off.
Absent from the holiday was Sacha's Coronation Street co-star Brooke Vincent, who plays her lesbian lover Sophie Webster in the ITV soap, who frequently accompanies her actress friend on holidays.

What's wrong? Sacha looked downcast as she sat on the beach, perhaps because her boyfriend Josh Wakefield wasn't there and was instead with his friends out in Ayia Napa

Sacha was instead accompanied by her boyfriend, property surveyor Josh Wakefield, on the trip.

However, as Josh was also with a group of friends, the pair didn't enjoy a splash around in the sea together, with Sacha instead looking perturbed as a nearby group of young boys started splashing her.

The fact that Josh was nowhere to be seen could also be the reason for Sacha's slightly subdued behaviour, as the actress was seen looking downcast as she sat on the sandy beach.

Sacha and Corrie co-star Brooke made history as the street’s first female gay couple and insisted that they’ll leave the soap if producers break up their character’s relationship.

And Brooke recently revealed the pair often pretend their relationship is real to get themselves out of sticky situations.

She said: 'Sometimes for a laugh we pretend we are a real couple. We were out in London recently and this boy was desperate to talk to Sacha. He wouldn't leave her alone. I was so fed up, I said, "Mate, do you want to stop talking to my bird?" And then we both marched off hand in hand!'

JLS left 'gutted' after they are forced to cancel T4 On The Beach performance

They were the one of the highlights of this year's concert and thousands of fans from across the UK had turned out to see them perform.

But they were left sorely disappointed when JLS were forced to cancel their appearance at T4 On The Beach due to production problems.

The four-piece had to make the sad announcement to their fans, who had travelled to Weston-Super-Mare to see them perform at the music event.

The lads took to their Twitter page and a statement was left on Facebook to confirm they would not be playing, a decision that left many fans in tears.

Their management said in a statement: 'We regret to inform you that JLS will not be able to perform at T4 On The Beach today due to production problems.

'JLS flew in for T4OTB and arrived on site at Weston Super Mare at 730am for a soundcheck and camera rehearsal.

'The soundcheck was continually pushed back. JLS were finally able to soundcheck at 9.30am but by this point the gates were open and the crowd were let in which meant JLS could not soundcheck.

'As a result of not being allowed to soundcheck and rehearse JLS cannot perform their set which had been especially created for T4. JLS are gutted they are unable to perform on stage today and are sorry to fans who have travelled to see them but this situation was out of their control.

The band - Marvin Hulme, Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams and JB Gill- then personally logged on to Twitter to apologise.

Then JB said: 'Gutted can't perform at T4OTB :-( sorry to everyone who came out to see us and queued up!!its not faaaaaaair!Jaybes x'

Marvin added: 'We are SO sorry that we are not performing. It's something that was beyond our control. As a 4 piece live singing band there is no way we can do such a huge show without a soundcheck or camera rehearsal.

Channel 4 later released a statement which read: 'Due to technical issues, JLS unfortunately had to pull out of T4 On The Beach today.
'Channel 4 takes the safety of its fans very seriously – T4 On The Beach is incredibly popular and we had 47,000 fans arriving from dawn today.

'The organising committee responsible for the event made the decision that in order to avoid any potential crowd issues, the opening of the gates was not delayed.
'This meant that JLS did not get their rehearsal time and were unable to perform today.'
But other acts at the sold-out event, now in its sixth year, were able to perform including The Wanted, Olly Murs, the Sugababes and Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts.
