Some of the country's more familiar female stars have banded together for a colourful campaign as part of this year's Children In Need.

Elen Rivas, Jo Whiley, Kristina Rihanoff, Gemma Atkinson, Alesha Dixon and Lydia Bright appear in a bright, bold fantasy world entitled The Land Of Cake Believe to aid the charity's forthcoming appeal.

The stars pose with large cakes, gingerbread men and lollipops for the special shoot.

Lydia Bright from The Only Way Is Essex poses in a tiny green spotted top with even smaller blue shorts, yellow sock and red heels - her backside sunk into a doughnut and gingerbread replicas of Pudsey Bear at her feet.

While Alesha Dixon sits on a swing made from a large candy cane, wearing a silky pink dress with matching heels that have cakes on the end of them.
Former Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson perches herself on a giant cupcake pretending to eat a giant Smartie.

Elen Rivas beams as she places a cherry on top of a cupcake in her shot - she wears a blue dress with cherries in her hair.

Kristina Rihanoff plays hostess, carrying her cake with hand - she's the only participant whose outfit is a perfect match for the cake she's posing with.

Jo Whiley plays it simple, opting to pretend to take a bite from her huge gingerbread Pudsey.

The ladies are helping to promote Children In Need's campaign to encourage the people of Britain to bake goodies and raise funds for this year's appeal.

Many of the sweets and treats in the shoot are giant versions of Asda’s Children in Need baking goodies.

This year marks Asda’s eleventh year as BBC Children in Need’s fundraising partner, selling exclusive baking ingredients, Pudsey and Blush products, T-shirts and many more Pudsey goodies to help raise much needed funds.

Asda is aiming to raise a whopping £1.75million this year to support the appeal.

Meanwhile One Direction and Susan Boyle have recently been confirmed to perform at this year's Children In Need.

The X Factor group will open the appeal night programme with their new single Gotta Be You, while Miss Boyle will sing a track from her forthcoming album Someone To Watch Over Me.

They will be joined by JLS, Westlife and The Children in Need Collective, who will play this year's Children In Need single Teardrop.

The Collective includes Gary Barlow, Ed Sheeran, Ms Dynamite, Labrinth and Tulisa Contostavlos.

The show, which is broadcast live on BBC One on November 18, will also include appeal films from Kylie Minogue, Jessie J and Cheryl Cole and Sir Terry Wogan, Tess Daly, Fearne Cotton and Alesha Dixon will be presenting.

They've become good friends since Amy Childs signed to Peter Andre's management company late last year.

So it no surprise to see the former Only Way Is Essex star lending her support to Andre as he made his West End debut for a one off appearance in Ghost: The Musical.

The father-of-two joined the production's actual star Caissie Levy (Molly) to perform the famous pottery wheel scene.

Andre took to the stage at the Piccadilly Theatre, taking over the role of the ghost Sam, famously portrayed by the late Patrick Swayze in the 1990 film of the same name.

The iconic scene takes place against the backdrop of the Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody, which also appears in the musical.

His appearance meant the musical's actual Sam - former Coronation Street actor Richard Fleeshman - had to take a back seat.

Speaking ahead of the show, he said: 'They asked me if I would be a part of it by doing that famous clay scene and I was like, "Patrick Swayze, Peter Andre... there's no comparison, are you sure you want me to do this?"

'So I went and rehearsed and I loved it and it is an amazing scene and the whole show is amazing. My pottery skills are shocking - but the great thing is I don't have to do it, I'm a ghost."

The Australian singer was making a one-off cameo at the climax of the show for the Children In Need Pop Goes The Musical fundraiser.

Other stars making one-off appearances this week included Melanie C in We Will Rock You, Stacey Solomon in Wicked and Sugababes in Mamma Mia!

It's been a charitable week for Andre who took part in the BGC Partners charity day on Monday.

A host of celebrities joined global inter-broker dealer BGC to raise money for a host of charities in memory of staff of its sister company, investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald, who died during the 9/11 attacks in New York.

She was the fitness fanatic that earned her name of Sporty Spice during her time as one fifth of the world's biggest girl band.

And her dedication to the gym has stood pop veteran Melanie Chisholm in good stead as she flaunted her toned legs outside a London theatre yesterday.

Melanie, also known as Mel C, looked sensational in a short black dress that set off her sexy pins to perfection and showed off the large dragon tattoo on her right calf.

The singer, 37, was snapped arriving at the Dominion Theatre to join cast members of We Will Rock You on stage for Children In Need at the curtain call.

Melanie joined the cast of a West End show to sing with them as part of the BBC charity's POP Goes The Musical where this week, five celebrities will make an appearance in five different West End shows to perform a song.

The musical is based on the songs of Queen and the band's guitarist Brian May joined Melanie on stage as they delighted the audience with renditions of 'We Will Rock You’.

The audience went wild, taking part in the infamous ‘stamps and claps’ as Melanie C’s impressive vocals were stunningly enhanced by Brian May’s signature show-stopping guitar riffs.

Melanie said afterwards: 'I feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of ‘Pop Goes the Musical’ for this year’s BBC Children in Need. I can’t believe I had the chance to perform with the amazing cast of ‘We Will Rock You’.

'I have always been a massive Queen fan, and to have the opportunity to perform two of the band’s biggest anthems and to be joined on stage by the legendary Brian May is a dream come true! Thank you Pudsey!'

And despite getting her Spice Girl moniker wrong, May added: 'I always wanted to work with Rocky Spice! And tonight it finally happened. She is such a total pro - a delight to interact with. Thanks Mel C! You rock!'

Celebrities who have already taken to the stage for the charity event include Stacey Solomon who joined the cast of Wicked for the final song on Saturday night.

On Monday, Amy Winehouse's goddaughter Dionne Bromfield took to the stage to deliver a rendition of ‘Why Do Fools Fall in Love’ with the cast of Million Dollar Quartet at the Noel Coward Theatre.

Tonight, Peter Andre will be on stage at the Piccadilly theatre on Wednesday night to sing Unchained Melody and tomorrow, the Sugababes will join Mamma Mia for their rendition of Abba's Dancing Queen.

PETER Andre had his pick of lovely ladies yesterday, with the likes of Stacey Solomon and Sugababes on hand for a kiss and a cuddle.

But while Stacey Solomon and Peter Andrecould bond over their Mum and Dad of the Year status, and Sugababes singer Amelle looked like she just wanted well' anyone's company, the singleton was more interested in someone else.
The stars were at The Roof Gardens for the press launch of Pop Goes The Musical ' a charity initiative where popstars perform in a musical for the day ' and Pete got pretty cosy with Pudsey the bear.
The singer ' who will be in Ghost the Musical on September 14 ' went in to for a peck with the gorgeous yellow bear, leaving the ladies a little disappointed we imagine.
Catch Stacey Solomon in Wicked on September 10 and the Sugababes in Mamma Mia on September 15.
