Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim
Tragedy struck Sunday at Lekki-Ajah axis in Lagos when a nine man gang of dare devil armed robbers robbed and shot four people to death including a London-based Nigerian, Kunle Shonda.
The armed robbers were said to have stormed a filling station in the area at about 8 o'clock and ordered the fuel attendants and other people in the station to lie down before they unleashed terror on them.
While dispossessing their victims of their personal effects, the London returnee who came into the country on Thursday for the burial arrangements of his mother-in-law, drove into the fuel station to top his tank.
Mistaking the deceased and his younger brother for security operatives, the gang released volley of shots on the unsuspecting duo, hitting the deceased on the leg and his younger brother on the arm.
THISDAY gathered that the same was done to any car that drove into the fuel station while the armed robbery operation was going on.
An eye witness lamented that whilst the two hour operation was going on, there was no police intervention.
The victims were said to have bled to death because of lack of prompt medical attention at the moment of the incident.

The residents of the area called on the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim to come to their aid to forestall a repeat performance.
Meanwhile, the wife of the deceased London returnee who is still in London has since been contacted to inform her of the husband's death.
